Bonjour! Hola! Hallo! Ciao!
Where are you flying next ?!
I would like to share some advice that will help you when you book your next vacation!
Orbitz, Travelocity, and Kayak are some popular online vacation sites. If you plan on traveling frequently (which I highly recommend, get out there) open a membership account with an airline or a third party like Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. It is free and you get points on your flights that lead to rewards such as free flights.
Get tickets early, some people say to buy tickets the day of the flight to save a lot of money but I have not tried that because it seems a little risky. Try to book plane tickets early, they tend to rise in price.
DO NOT BE LATE. Flying is faster than driving but there are some things that you need to take into consideration such as terminal parking, traffic, security check lines, flight time changes, flight gate changes, etc.
There might have been times when we are working steadily on our math homework, then suddenly we hit this one question that takes hours of trying and we end up staying late. Calculators are out there and why not use them ? It is inefficient to burn your head on a problem when you can use calculators then ask your teacher for in depth help later. Some mathematical calculations are too difficult or too time consuming.
There is an excellent online mathematical solver that will be your next friend in college if you are majoring in a science field. This online solver is called WolframAlpha.
You can type in any math equation, keyword, integral, system of equations, etc. This is a search engine for anything with numbers. You can also download the app on your phone! Click on the button to check it out!
Does the cost of living in a different country keep you from traveling ? Money shouldn't keep you from life experiences. There are locals in many countries that will open the doors for you to stay at their homes for FREE! Learn about their lifestyle and culture from an actual local. Sometimes we think we know the real story from what we hear from others, but their is nothing better than actually living in the country of your dreams.

Writing has many guidelines and rules in our education system in the U.S. that can be annoying and confusing. English classes tend to be very boring for many students but it's actually very important for our future careers. Being an excellent writer will improve your chances of getting a great job and make more $.
I always thought "I will never need to know how to write in my future career, so why even bother." I realized through my engineering career (which I thought I would never take an literature class) that writing is very important to convey the technical ideas to someone who has no engineering background.
Writing may be boring but it is very important. You will be more eloquent and professional now and in your future.
APA, MLA, Chicago, and other writing styles may be confusing to understand. I remember those annoying MLA citations I had to write for my essays. How to indent a paragraph or how to even write a sentence with proper grammar can be challenging. Resumes, goodness these are fun to write. No they are not, but it is your first impression to your job recruiter.
There is a great source for help on formats, essays, resumes, and many other grammar skills called Purdue OWL. I've been recommended this online resource and have used it in college for all my papers. It is an excellent source and very helpful so check it out!
Most of our parents have probably never travelled around the country out of fear or out of ignorance. Traveling is a true knowledge experience that will last for ever with you. Many don't travel because it is expensive but you can actually get free housing across the country! Did you know that? Travel as much as you can. If you are in college, travel abroad or take a semester abroad and get college credit for your university. Talk to your international student program or exchange program at your university for opportunities to study or do research in a different country. As a student you can benefit from lots of discounts and financial aid that your university may provide.
There is a student card called the International Student ID Card (ISIC) that provides another form of identification when traveling overseas. This card also provides you with numerous discounts on flights, hotels, food, etc. Click below to learn more!
Do you have your professional profile online? LinkedIn is a great way to have your business profile online. Many companies can see your qualifications and accomplishments on LinkedIn. You can also search and apply for jobs through LinkedIn. This will make job searching easier and you can also download the app so you can have it on your phone.
Sometimes figuring out how to study takes more time than actually studying. Some students like to study alone or study with a group. Studying with a group of students can prove inefficient. Many times group study ends up more like a "group party". It is best to study alone or with students that are on the same level of understanding. This challenges each other to work harder to find the solution instead of depending on someone to give you the answer.
If you are the one that usually finds the answer, don't get stuck with your friends or study group that only wants the answers from you. This only wastes your study time. Help them with the process of finding the solution, not just simply giving the answer.
Sometimes you are really busy or easily distracted in your daily life and forget to do the important stuff that must be done. I always say I will remember what to do, but end up forgetting and become unproductive. What I have done to help me with my important tasks is to simply write it down on my planner or use the Reminders app on iPhone.
The Reminders app is really helpful. You can set an alert for daily or weekly important tasks. For example, you can set a reminder alert to wash your clothes every Tuesday and Saturday at 10:00 AM, set an appointment alert for a meeting on Sunday at 9:00 PM, or a reminder to check your online banking once a week on Monday.
Sometimes we say we don't have time, but we do. Prioritizing tasks and gettings things done will help you have more time for the things you want to do and enjoy!
Advanced Placement courses in high school prepare you for college courses and if the AP Exam is passed with a high grade you may receive college credit for that course depending on the university’s requirements. For example, if you take the AP Calculus AB course and pass it with a 4 (5 being the highest) then you can receive college credits at some colleges and you would not need to take that particular course in college. Some colleges may even take a score of 3 but some may only take a score of 5 for credit.
Study hard and try your best because the exam is pretty expensive but you will save more money in college.
You are probably excited seeing all this mail arriving from different universities to your house. I remember the feeling. There is nothing wrong with applying to multiple universities so go ahead and apply to all the ones you are interested in attending.
Born in Texas and grew up speaking Spanish then learned English. Being the oldest of three, I had a lot of homework questions in school but had no one to help me. Studied hard and graduated as a mechanical engineer then worked in the oil industry. I did not know about college and careers growing up, now I want to help you be more knowledgable.
